walking the sacred spiral
walking the sacred spiral
A friend of mine made three concrete decisions recently that will change her life completely: to grow her wealth, to welcome love, and to lose weight. These are desires that have been alive in her for a while, but taking consistent action on them had been difficult.
What changed within her? Two things that I can see: receiving supportive help, and taking consistent action. Progress is happening for her in all three areas as a result of these, and in wonderful ways.
Sometimes our desire to make a change is actually wishful thinking. We begin, but can’t persist and quickly give up. We talk ourselves out of it, and go back to sleep. We don’t have the support, or we don’t avail ourselves of it. We aren’t willing to be a little uncomfortable for an indefinite amount of time. The decision isn’t really a fully realized choice. Yet.
When we become frustrated enough with the status quo, the choices we make to change are much more solid. In New Thought, we call this Divine Discontent. As the Rev. Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith is fond of saying, “Pain pushes until the vision pulls.”
When we really want something enough to begin to change, we take irrevocable action in that direction and we persist in it. Oddly, sometimes having more than one thing we want to change means that taking action in one area shifts things in another area as well. Then, as we persist with action in the second area, it supports and sustains the first.
Are you feeling stuck? If so, consider what you haven’t been willing to do yet. What support haven’t you been willing to receive or request? What would you have to let go of to make progress? What healthy actions would you have to be willing to take?
Short of the Universe dropping partners, palaces, jobs, money and great health into our laps, we are usually required to change ourselves to make room for these changes. Andy Warhol said, “They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.”
You may be feeling some Divine Discontent today. Maybe you’ve had enough of bad relationships, or no relationship. Perhaps you’re tired of being overweight or underweight or physically weak or tired or depressed. It may be time to finally say “no” to struggling financially.
There is no earthly problem that someone hasn’t overcome. If it’s possible for someone else, it’s possible for you. Don’t let limiting beliefs about “requirements” stop you. Do you need more help than someone else to move in the direction you desire? Get it. There are always free ways to begin, if cost is an issue.
Don’t stay stuck. The Universe needs you to express the fullness of yourself to be fully manifested Itself. Why would It desire to withhold any sourcing from you? That would only limit Its own expression. Let yourself be sourced through your willingness to initiate personal change. You can do this. I know you can.
